Stevie Ray is THE master of the blues...

<bgsound src=lw.mid>It is hard to describe in words the effect Stevie Ray had on my life. I grew up in Austin, Texas and saw Stevie play dozens of times before he played with Bowie and the 'world' found out about him too. I drank beers with Stevie at Antones and can still vividly picture one night in 1982....me and Kevin Moden, partying with Stevie. He chugs down his Shiner Bock and walks a few steps to the stage. Stevie picks up his Strat, sits down on a stool, and proceeds to blast out 'Little Wing' with such fire, finesse, and intensity that Jimi would be standing in awe as well. He gets lost in the moment, the force very few people will ever know takes over and the music flows from within, there are no pauses, he doesn't think or plan the notes that will come next, Stevie is one with the blues....his face contorts, his eyes closed, he is in that place only he can go....we can only listen in awe.
